offering 15% off of Windows 7 upgrades. The sales guys actually said it unusual for Microsoft to run promothing like this, but they are "trying to make up for Vista sucking". He actually said that.

Should of responded "Well if Vista sucked so bad, why did they make a clone and call it Windows 7".

Just curious, was the salesman from MS store, or some other retail house?

He said he was from Microsoft. And tried to sell me a few other MS products, so most likely he is really with Microsoft.

I finally ended the call with, "We use Novell products."

Hmm, just seems odd as Microsoft isn't a direct sales company, very high percentage of sales to customers it is through "middle men" retailers (even OEM is sold to Dell, etc, then sold to the customer)... even their licensing is through second parties. Although they are making a push with their new stores, just didn't expect those stores to start cold calling...

hmm

We get direct calls from MS, Google, Novell, Citrix, etc decently often. I think thats part of being Government sector.

Usually when it comes to cutting the check they hand you off to a sales partner.
